Phew!! After much concern about the wild weather forecasts, we, for the most part, got lucky. The heavens opened and we experienced a brief downpour, followed by some sprinkles for a bit in the morning. Beyond that the wet stuff held off.
Three ladies, Carol Blackburn, Roz Craig and Cindy Lee competed in the morning with Carol Blackburn coming out on top. I think it is reasonable to say that she is considering representing CLBC at the BSI tournament on Labour Day weekend at Lakehill LBC.
The six gentlemen who battled were Kevin Allen, Dennis Blackburn, Chuck Cooke, Jim Frose, Brian Nelson and Robert Paul. After some amazingly skilled bowling, the outcome saw Chuck in 3rd place, Kevin, in 2nd and Brian was our champion.
He is considering his options re the BSI Championship weekend, September 7 & 8th at Victoria LBC.
Once competition was complete, the assembled group of players, markers, our umpire, Ross Bulley, and spectators joined together to wish a Happy Birthday to our dear friend, Betty Locke. A delicious cake was enjoyed by all.
I want to thank all who assisted in making this day a success, I could not have done it alone...it takes a village!!
Oh, by the way, as I was leaving the club, the thunder was rumbling and the rain was pelting down, so, yes, we were most fortunate to have been able to "git 'er dun"!!!
