Canada Day Jitney

Updated: Jul 3, 2024

42 players came out on a beautiful sunny day to participate in the Canada Day Jitney, organized by Bill Ferguson and Vivian Bleeks. After a group picture, taken by Mike Hansen, and the singing of Oh Canada, bowls were rolled to the spider in the middle of the green. Reen Lloyd won the main prize for this, with other people winning coins. Triples teams played three games of bowling to the green mat, which was placed in various locations on the green. The winning team was Gord Park, Betty Burnett, and Janet Doskotch. Second place went to Roy Wilkinson, Debby Davey, and Cindy Lee, and third place went to Pat Unger, Gord Hamilton, and Robert Paul. Best Canada Day outfits went to Debby Davey and Brian Cameron, and the 50/50 draw was won by Kathy Van Elk.

After lunch, President Ian Hammocks presented Bowls Canada 25 year pins to 5 members who have been bowling for 25 or more years, Joan and Jim Appleton, Betty and Duncan Locke, and Keith Thorpe. Brian Cameron was congratulated on recently becoming a Canadian citizen.
